Our GRC tour of the University of Minnesota Conservatory on February 4th was a wonderful
respite from the depths of midwinter.

Lisa Aston Philander, curator of the conservatory, took us on a tour of the seven different environmental biomes maintained by the University for research and study. As we walked from arid desert to tropical forest to cloud forest Lisa shared fascinating facts about rare and unusual plants in each environment. It felt like a mini trip around the world as we saw plants from every continent.

Everyone agreed that the conservatory is a real gem tucked away in the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus. GRC members are invited to come visit any time from 9:00 to 3:00 Monday through Friday -- and feel free to photograph and sketch plant subjects we fall in love with.

Stay tuned for possible field days at this location for our GRC group in the future.
