Take an autumn nature hike. Learn the names of some Minnesota mushrooms.
Gather mushrooms for painting.
This is a half day trip to take a mushroom / nature walk with the experts of the Minnesota Mycological Society (www.minnesotamushrooms.org).
Early autumn is the peak of mushroom fruiting season, and Minnesota woods are home to many well known delicious (chantarelles, porcini, black trumpets, angels' wings, puffballs), unusual, and simply beautiful mushrooms.
If you find something to paint, the MMS expert can identify it and you can take it home. Most specimens keep for a week or more if wrapped in damp paper towels and refrigerated.
You might even find something to take home and cook. Take a walk on the wild side!
