Please join GRC member Kim Thomas and Minnesota Zoo staff to tour the Zoo's new 3.5 acre Prairie Demonstration Garden. The Garden is located near a parking area, where a conversion from turf grass has created a diverse landscape providing food and shelter for many Minnesota species.

Dr. Erik Runquist, Conservation Biologist in charge of the Zoo's Prairie Butterfly Program will be on hand to discuss his work with endangered butterfly species including the rare Poweshiek Skipperling. Sarah Braman, Prairie Horticulturist, will answer questions and discuss the prairie plants and their ecosystem.

Meet at the East Parking Lots (ask a parking attendant to direct you). We will not be going through the Zoo's admission gate.

The Prairie Demonstration Garden program has been funded by a Legacy Grant through the State of Minnesota.
