There are no easy answers to the question of how to price our art, but we can expect this discussion to deepen our understanding of the different and sometimes conflicting market forces that influence prices. Topics will include:

  • Input GRC has received in the process of organizing our exhibits
  • Market forces that shape retail art prices in general
  • Botanical art pricing in national exhibitions

Please visit and click on “events” to sign up, so that we can estimate attendance.

Three GRC members with different perspectives will help lead our discussion:

Yara Anderson is GRC’s Exhibits Chair. She lines up the galleries for our yearly member exhibitions and negotiates terms with the hosts. She educates our members about the process of submitting art for exhibitions, organizes our submissions, and confronts the issues of pricing with each exhibit. Yara’s own botanical art has been accepted into national juried exhibitions.

Suz Galloway is a botanical painter who has made a career in retail merchandising of home furnishings, art, interior design, and gifts. She has bought, sourced, displayed, and developed products, and managed pricing, profitability analysis, and identifying trends. She has worked for several large corporations, as well as for herself as the owner of Point of View Art Gallery in Wayzata, which handled original art from regional artists. Suz teaches art at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts.

Marilyn Garber is the founder of the Minnesota School of Botanical Art (2001), and a past President, Vice-President and Education Chair of the American Society of Botanical Artists. Currently she is the ASBA's Annual Meeting and Program Coordinator. She is a noted teacher and artist who has exhibited her work in many local and international exhibitions. She has extensive experience with the national and international botanical art scene.
