Guided Tour of Tamarack Nature Preserve

Take a naturalist-guided tour of one of the southernmost stands of tamarack trees in Minnesota. Woodbury’s Tamarack Nature Preserve is considered a rare “bog-fen” by noted botanist and author Dr. Robert H. Mohlenbrock, while the MN DNR classifies it as a Southern Rich Coniferous Swamp.

You’ll have a chance to cross the wetland on newly renovated boardwalks and take a light hike on woodland trails surrounding the tamarack swamp.

Hundreds of native species of wetland, as well as woodland plants, will greet you. Visit the website to see more photos and to check out the iNaturalist project.

The walk should take no more than an hour and will give you time to plot your next photo, sketching or nature-journaling visit. Bring your binocs, too!

No need to register, just come on out and join us at 10:30 am. It will be great to see you.
