Back by popular demand, after our sold-out session at the Raptor Center in January!

Professional science and nature illustrator Carlyn Iverson is offering an expanded carbon dust workshop to GRC members.  Our focus will be botanical, and additional time will allow us to get into the medium in some depth.  Bring a subject, or choose from some we’ll have available at the workshop.  There is no charge to members.

We’ll start at 10:30 with a brief intro to carbon dust, and then select our subjects and get to work.  At noon, water, coffee and lemonade will be on offer over a short lunch break.  Please bring a bag lunch.

At 12:30 we’ll get back to work.  As a special extra while we’re working this afternoon, Carlyn will share a sneak peak selection of slides from her recent professional travels to the Galapagos!   The workshop will wrap up at 2:00.

Materials to bring:

  • bag lunch
  • sketch pad
  • #2 pencils (HB hardness or similar)
  • old, small watercolor brushes – OLD is better than new and you won't want to paint with them later
  • kneaded rubber eraser
  • a few sheets of tracing paper
  • a small container to hold graphite powder (for example a plastic prescription bottle or similar with a lid)

Carlyn’s artistic expertise is unparalleled, and we’re sure to have fun and strengthen our creative powers in this workshop.
